“Is this a dream?” he asked.

She was quiet for a second, then shrugged and gave him a small smile. “Not yet.”

Suddenly, her eyes sparkled, and she tugged him in a new direction. A patch of mist parted, revealing a lake. They slid on its frozen surface till their feet left the ice.

His breath hitched as he looked down at the rooftops of his village far below. So she pulled him closer, placing his arms around her waist.

“I won’t let you fall,” she said, squeezing his wide shoulders.

And so, holding each other tight, they waltzed among the clouds as the wind howled.
